🏫 What is the Luccombe Hub?
The Luccombe Hub is a school. It is a safe place. People understand that everyone is different. That is okay.
🤔 What will happen when I arrive?
- An adult will meet you 👋
- They will tell you where to go
- Help you find the lockers to store your things
- Show you the toilets
- You can ask questions
You will not be rushed.
👩🏫🏫 Who are the adults?
There are adults whose job is to help you:
- Facilitators
- Teaching Assistants
- Other staff
They help you learn. They help you feel safe. They listen to you.
🧑 🤝 🧑 Do I have to make friends?
No.
You do not have to make friends straight away. You can:
- Play on your own
- Sit quietly
- Join others when you feel ready
All choices are okay.
📚 What will I learn?
You will learn:
- Reading 📖
- Writing ✏️
- Maths 🔢
- Creative activities 🎨
- Life skills 🌱
- Animal care 🐾
- Cooking 🍳
- DT (Design and Technology) 🛠️
- Riding 🐎
You will learn in small steps. You can take your time.
⏰ What does your day look like?
Your day may look like this:
- Arrive at school 10am
- Session time
- Lunch 12.15-12.45
- More activities
- Home time 3pm
Adults will tell you what is happening. Visual timetables may be used.
🔄 What if plans change?
Sometimes plans change.
An adult will:
- Tell you
- Show you on the timetable
- Help you understand
You can ask questions
😟 What if I feel worried or upset?
That is okay. Feelings are okay.
You can:
- Tell an adult
- Use a calm space
- Take a break
- Go for a walk with your facilitator
- Visit the farm
- Use your calming tools
You are not in trouble.
🔊 What if it is too loud or busy?
The Luccombe Hub understands.
You can:
- Go to a quiet space
- Walk a dog
- Wear ear defenders
- Ask for help
Adults will support you.
🥪 What about lunch?
- You will have time to eat
- You can eat slowly
- An adult can help you
You can ask if you are unsure
👕 Will I have to wear a uniform?
You do not have to wear a uniform.
Staff wear a uniform so you can recognise them. We understand that uniforms can feel uncomfortable. Your comfort is important.
