The Founder

Meet Henri

Henri trained as a therapeutic foster carer in 2011 and has a wealth of experience with children who have experienced trauma, insecure attachments, addiction, high anxiety, trauma, challenging behaviours and have been permanently excluded from school. With over 30 years of experience working with children, Henri is very comfortable in a multi-agency environment and works professionally alongside Social Services, DCC and BCP Special Educational Needs Department, IFAs, Schools and Parents.

After retraining in Equine Assisted Learning, through EAQ, Henri launched EAQ Luccombe in 2017 and then went on to open The Luccombe Hub offering alternative education in 2018. The Luccombe Hub has continued to grow and is now registered with OFSTED as a Specialist School and the Independent Schools Association.

“The success of our registration in 2022 reflects the drive and dedication of the Director of Education and the team who have developed the curriculum using project-based learning, incorporating our farm, allotment, life skills and STEM projects into skills focused lessons”

Henri has always believed that there is another alternative to conventional education. Helping young people feel safe in their surroundings, connecting with the outdoors in a therapeutic environment and by engaging with hands-on, skills focused lessons, we encourage young people to explore and express themselves and learn through their own experiences.

The Luccombe Hub continued to grow in 2022 with the development of our bespoke Post 16 Curriculum. We have developed our Thrive Practice across the Centre and introducing BHS Awards in equine studies, partnered with Longmead Community Farm to deliver Alternative Provision  and collaborated with Abavia to deliver agricultural qualifications and experience in the farming and mechanics industry. Luccombe Hub is now an exam Centre and we are extremely proud of all our learners who have gained their GCSEs in Art, English language, English Literature, Maths and Biology and their functional skills in Maths and English.

I truly believe it is a testament to our amazing staff and putting our Mental Health Curriculum at the forefront of everything we do.
