Sickness and Attendance

Attendance

The Luccombe Hub understands that a high level attendance will have a positive impact on progression and learning and good levels of attendance are needed for learners to take advantage of the wide variety of positive experiences.

It is the aim of the Luccombe Hub that all learners maintain an attendance rate of 95% and above in line with best practice. However, we understand that our learners are more vulnerable and have greater needs that their mainstream counterparts and therefore may have more genuine reasons for absence.  It is our responsibility to create an environment and provide sufficient support and encouragement to ensure frequent and regular attendance.

If there are problems which affect a learners attendance we will investigate, identify and strive in partnership with parents/carers and learners to resolve those problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Wherever possible, we ask that appointments for our learners are booked outside of session times and family holidays are taken outside of term time.

If you know that your child will not be attending their session due any other reason than sickness, please email the Centre Lead via Office@LuccombeHub.com to request leave of absence.

Sickness

What if my child is ill?

Children can’t help being ill and as a Centre we want all our children to be well, healthy and able to attend happily and confidently. If you are unsure whether your child is too ill to attend their session, you can seek guidance from NHS www.nhs.uk/Live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

If your child is too unwell to attend….

Please phone the office on 07930226886 or Email Office@LuccombeHub.com with the name of your child and reason for absence.  Please do this by 9:45am on the first day of absence and make contact each day they are to be absent so we can update our registers appropriately.

48 hour rule: For the wellbeing of all learners and staff, we ask that children and visitors do not attend the centre within 48 hours of vomiting or diarrhoea

What happens if my child becomes ill whilst at The Luccombe Hub?

We will always contact you if your child becomes ill during their session with us.  We have a dedicated welfare room, where they can rest and be looked after by their facilitator until a parent/carer can come to collect them.

COVID 19 Symptoms – As the governmental guidance for schools has been withdrawn, The Luccombe Hub has chosen to continue with a balanced approach to Covid-19 – We ask all children and visitors not to attend the Centre and follow the latest guidance on isolating,  should they have a temperature, new and continuous cough &/or loss or change to their sense of taste or smell.  The Centre continues to promote good hygiene practices, with regular washing of hands and free access to hand sanitizer throughout the centre.  If masks help you to feel safer, please feel free to wear one – this is a personal choice.
